Fences

Straight lines. Set posts. Gates that latch.

From a cedar privacy fence around a backyard to chain-link around a city ballfield, a fence is only as good as its posts. We set ours in concrete, below the frost line, plumb and on string. Everything above that is carpentry, and we are good at carpentry.

How we do it

We have built and repaired fencing for public parks in Kirkland, including ballfield backstops, tennis court enclosures and off-leash dog park fencing. Municipal work means spec sheets, safety plans and inspections. We are comfortable with all three, and it makes our residential work better too.

On residential jobs we use ground-contact-rated posts, galvanized or stainless fasteners, and a top cap or rail to keep water out of end grain. Small things, big difference in year five.

Good to know · Clark County

  • Fences up to six feet usually do not need a permit in Vancouver and Clark County; corner lots and street-facing fences have height limits. We check before we quote.
  • Talk to your neighbor before we start. We will happily provide a drawing you can share.
  • A new cedar fence should cure for four to eight weeks before its first coat of stain.

Questions

Fences FAQ

Do you do commercial and municipal fencing?

Yes. Chain-link, sports fencing, backstops and dog-park enclosures. We have completed park work and can provide references and proof of insurance for public bids.

My fence is leaning. Repair or replace?

If the boards are sound and only a few posts have failed, we replace posts and reset the panels. If more than a third of the posts are gone, a new fence is usually the better value.
